We have asked our fishing and boating fans to share their New Years resolutions with us and have had amazing results. Here are some of our fans' best New Year 2019 resolutions that will inspire you to go fishing and boating this year.
1. Fish more often
It's that simple that as the year progresses, many of our fans would love to stop making excuses and fish more often. We all make time for the things in life that we really enjoy. If you enjoy fishing, stop making excuses and just do it more often. Team up with a fishing buddy and now add a date or two to your calendars. But first, buy your fishing license.
2. Find new places to fish and boating
48% of our fans replied that they wanted to fish in new waters. If one of your New Year's resolutions is to find and try a new fishing or boating spot each month, use our interactive map to find the best fishing and boating spots near you and plan your next fishing trip . You can also use our map to find bait shops, marinas, fishing forecasts, and more.
3. Try new ways of fishing
Interested in saltwater fishing, freshwater fishing, fly fishing or ice fishing? There are so many types of fishing that you can practice this year. Pick a type of fishing you'd like to learn more about and become an "Expert". One of the best ways to achieve greater success in fishing is to learn as much as you can about the different types of fishing that you can practice in your area.
4. Teach someone to fish
Make a decision to teach a friend or your child how to fish. A day on the water is a great opportunity to spend time with friends and family, and teach children about the outdoors while they learn new fishing and boating skills. When teaching your children to fish, you can also include educational activities or related hobbies such as a trip to a local aquarium or fish hatchery.
5. Learn about other fish species
This year, learn more about different types of fish, e.g. B. Bluegill, Black Crappie, Channel catfish or other species. Pick a species of fish you'd like to learn more about and become an "expert" on species. One of the best ways to achieve greater success in fishing is to learn as much as you can about fish anatomy and behavior. Knowing more about how and why fish behave the way they do can help you increase your catch rate.
